The variety show had everything from singing to spoken poetry to dancing. Thank you scented pansy buyers for sponsoring my debut show. I’m not only an acrobat and stripper now because I have experience in emcee-ing and event coordination!

I’ve worked too hard in the past 4 months to let anyone dampen my spirit. Pole dancing was invented by strippers and I seldom hear about local pole shows that fundraise for sex worker rights. That doesn’t sit right with me as someone who has been volunteering for San Francisco Bay Area organizations since 2020. So I followed my gut and that led me to having a February production in my repertory.

It’s gonna be a while until my next dance production...planning for last Saturday’s fundraiser hindered me from editing my podcast and writing articles. As fun as it was to reunite with distant friends all in the same room, I’m glad it’s over. Don’t get me started on the myriad of headaches I had during the planning process.

My recent panty buyers were incredibly patient whilst I’ve been invested in something else. You know who you are. As an underwear seller, I am my only employee.  One of the hardest parts about being an event producer is having to rely on others. It did sting to reject performers who didn’t meet deadlines and lacked good communication.

Around the time I was contacting vendors for my show’s raffle, I published “Life isn’t always spring and summer”.  One of my favourite lines from that is “I will always make time for art”. While I can take time off to volunteer and can afford to rent a theatre for a small showcase, I am not affluent. Selling my fluids does pay well but it’s not hundreds of dollars per week. Who am I to complain though when art gets to be a part of my daily life? I am a part of multiple people’s artistic journeys.

Hosting a fundraiser gave myself a new sense of pride.
